If you smell gas:
- Don’t panic, don’t light any fires, and don’t turn any electrical devices (light switches) on or off
- Turn off the gas appliance
- Open doors and windows to ventilate the area
- If you can still smell gas, turn off your gas supply and contact Gas R Us or a gasfitter for advice
- If you can still smell gas after turning off your gas supply, call 000.
If you have a fire, explosion or uncontrolled gas leak call 000 immediately, and:
- Don’t panic, don’t light any fires, and don’t turn any electrical devices (light switches) on or off
- Evacuate the area
- If it is safe to do so:
- Turn off the gas appliance and turn off the gas supply at the gas cylinder or meter
- Extinguish the fire using a fire blanket or fire extinguisher
- If the fire is extinguished, open doors and windows to ventilate the area.
